Cay Cay's collage

Cay's collage, originally uploaded by Adrienne2.

This is the collage that Cay Cay made over at Samantha's house with Moppet 1. She seems to share her mother's love of winged people, notice how she put the flower petals behind the mom to look like wings? It's her first collage!

Thursday's Art Adventure with Samantha...

Not my photo either, but so beautiful!

Well today is Thursday, which means Latin class at Samantha's house, which also means; Thursday Art Adventure. I will have to cheat again and send you all over to Samantha's blog Home Realm to see what we did today. How fun it is to look forward to spending time crafting with Samantha all week long. Cay Cay and her Moppet 1 also made their own collages today, I'll have to post Cay's tomorrow for you all to see.

We tried some new techniques found in one of our cool new books today. It was adventursome to try something I haven't done before. I never realized how much prep work can go into just preparing the background of some collages. I still want to add a few embellishments to mine, but all in all I was pleased with the end result. I loved the one Samantha did, and we joke that we should trade brains some day so that we can do something more like the other one would do just once, because we like each other's styles so much.

Tomorrow I will be posting my answers to the quiz that Jasmine tagged me for over at her blog today. I will be thinking very hard on these tonight Jazz!! :-)

Sweet dreams to all!

A dream come true...

mad in love with icecream, originally uploaded by nyxx.

I found this great photo over at flickr, one of my favorite hangouts (I am a bit obsessed actually!). If only a mint chocolate ice cream cone like this one would come into my life! The folks at 31 flavors, always look at me a bit strange when I say "Could you give me extra on mine?" Maybe my dream home would have a huge walk in freezer, with a cone like this one just sitting there waiting for me to come and partake of it any time I wanted to. Can you say gluttony? :-) I have a sickness, a weakness for mint chocolate chip, what can I say?

Not my photo, but my life today!

Knowing that I would most likey have huge piles of laundry to do upon returning from camping, Samantha sent me a link to Sora's song Mom of Constant Laundry. Take a listen, if you haven't heard it already! I was sure in need of something to make me smile about all of our dirty dungarees. (I don't really know what dungarees are, but it sounds good, so don't ask!) :-)

Magnetic Poetry

Someone e-mailed me this link to Magnetic Poetry, it is pretty fun to do while you are sitting around, gets the brain juices flowing. :-) Not mine, per se, I am still knee deep in piles of laundry from our camping trip, and not feeling too cerebral at this time! Enjoy making your own poems though, and let me know what you come up with!!

Indian Paintbrush field near Athens. TX

Field of Dreams, originally uploaded by Adrienne2.

I could have sat in this field for hours!! We passed it up the first day of our trip (we had to get to the train station on time) and hubby thought I was going to jump out of the moving car to get to it! I couldn't believe it, I have never seen a whole field like this before. The next day we back-tracked to find it, and I am so glad that we did. It will forever remain in my mind as one of those places that I visit to reflect and find peace and solitude. Do any of you have a place like that?

Well, tonight since I am so very tired, I am going to send everyone over to Samantha's blog for my post. Samantha and I made collages today after our dear daughters' Latin class was over. It was so much fun! Pictures are at Samantha's. She also gave me a YUMMY loaf of sourdough bread that she had baked, breakfast tomorrow!

Tomorrow we leave for camping, hopefully I'll have a lot of pictures when we get back!

Free ESV bible

I found this over at Sal's Stand Up and Walk. The ESV bible people are looking for bloggers to put their address in their blogroll, and if they do and submit an e-mail to them saying so, the first 100 bloggers will get a free ESV bible of their choice. Since I have really been wanting one ot the Olive Tru Tone ones with the celtic cross design on it, I decided to give it a try. Click HERE to try it yourself!

A new dawn...

DSC02199, originally uploaded by Kevin P.

Melancholy day...

Well, I am still feeling pretty melancholy today. I didn't know quite how to put it until now, but that is a good description of my mood. Yesterday I was going through my bible study that I do on Sunday evenings, and the chapter is on being a christian in a community, and how we grow through that. I found myself in Titus 3:

3 At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another. 4 But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, 5 he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, 6 whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life. 8 This is a trustworthy saying. And I want you to stress these things, so that those who have trusted in God may be careful to devote themselves to doing what is good. These things are excellent and profitable for everyone.

9 But avoid foolish controversies and genealogies and arguments and quarrels about the law, because these are unprofitable and useless. 10 Warn a divisive person once, and then warn him a second time. After that, have nothing to do with him. 11 You may be sure that such a man is warped and sinful; he is selfcondemned.
Titus 3:3-11 ESV

I guess that yesterday I found myself revisting past sins, mourning them once again, and mourning the sins that I have yet to put to death, but for some reason inside of me I coddle and hold onto. In the bible study I am learning that the sins that you keep committing over and over, no matter what the outward manifestations are, only lead to a much deeper seeded sin of the heart. My deep rooted sin that I am going to focus on during this study is selfishness.

I have never, ever thought of myself as a selfish person, I probably have many people who could back me up and say that is the last thing that they would ever call me. I have listened to people tell me how generous I am and puffed myself up with it (pride-another biggie!) and all the while deceiving them and myself. I have always been the one in the family to lend a hand to anyone, blah, blah, blah. The real truth is every single day I make decisions that are based soley on what is good for me. You know the saying, "If momma aint happy, aint nobody happy!". I am not the kind of wife and mother that I should be every day, especially the wife department.. I don't take my job as seriously as I should because I am tired, I don't feel good, I had a stressful day, I have given all I can give...me, me, me. I am so very blessed to have the husband that God has joined me to, I am very repentent, and determined to make a change with God's help. Thanks be to God for his grace and mercy.

Spring in Central Texas

Spring in Central Texas, originally uploaded by Seal Eye.

I hope when I get home I'll have my own bluebonnet pictures to share. I did a search on Flickr and there are 312 pages of bluebonnet pictures that people have posted. We Texans love our bluebonnets!

Planning an exciting weekend!

I just made our on-line reservations to ride the Texas State Railroad Train! I have been hoping to be able to make this trip for a while now. We are taking our RV and staying at one of the nearby state parks. In Texas, this is the time of year to go camping. Temperatures are still in the low 80's during the day, it won't be that way for much longer. Soon we will be seeing high 90's most days. Blech! We have had the most beautiful weather here this year, I have had my windows open for a month now, I can't remember the last time I could do that in April. Usually we go straight from the heater to the air conditioner! I hope the Bluebonnets are still out when we get there, and haven't yet withered away.

My nephew Sam, who loves trains, will be accompying us on our trip. I am going to give him the present I recently got for him while we're there. It is a copy of The Child's Story Bible by Catherine Vos. Sam loves me to read the bible to him, he has since he was 2, so I hope to have many readings from this one together. If you haven't read this story bible before, borrow it from a friend who has it, or just order one. You will love it. There is not another chidren's story bible that has the richness of theology that this one does, I promise you that I have learned things that I never understood before from this bible! I plan to get one for all of my nephew's a copy of this one. We first discovered ours on my Mother-in-Law's bookshelf. I started flipping through it, and thought 'Wow!", I asked if we could borrow it, and she of course gave it to Cay Cay. It had been one her books, the copyright on it is 1945! Goes to show, as with a lot of books on theology, older is sometimes better, the theology back then didn't have to be watered down for the kids to grasp. When did that change I wonder?

Today has also been a day of great sorrow. Sorrow over my own shortcomings and sinful nature. Hopefully tomorrow I will be able to write about it, for now I must sleep. Vade in pace! (Go in peace in Latin)

Name game

Another quiz, I found it on Marla's blog. It's pretty silly, but fun!

Lord's Day Evening Prayer

LEONAR~5, originally uploaded by verdadymetodo.

Most Holy god,
May the close of an earthly sabbath
remind me that the last of them will one day end.
Animate me with joy that in heaven praise will never cease, that adoration will continue for ever, that no flesh will grow weary,
no congregations disperse,
no affections flag,
no thoughts wander,
no will droop,
but all will be adoring love.
Guard my mind from making ordinances my stay or trust,
from hewing out broken cisterns,
from resting on outward helps.
Wing me through earthly forms to thy immediate presence;
May my feeble prayers show me the emptiness and vanity of my sins;
Deepen in me the conviction that my most fervent prayers and most lowly confession, need to be repented of.
May my best services bring me nearer to the cross,
and prompt me to cry, "None but Jesus!"
By thy Spirit give me abiding life to the lessons of this day:
May the seed sown take deep root and yield a full harvest.
Let all who see me take knowledge that I have been with thee, that thou hast taught me my need as a sinner,
hast revealed a finished salvation to me,
hast enriched me with all spiritual blessings,
hast chosen me to show forth Jesus to others,
hast helped me to dispel the mists of unbelief.
O great creator, mighty protector, gracious preserver,
thou dost load me with lovingkindnesses,
and hast made me thy purchased possession,
and redeemed me from all guilt;
I praise and bless thee for my sabbath rest,
my calm conscience,
my peace of heart.

Kingdom Songs

I was thrilled when I opened my mailbox this afternoon to discover that Sora's
Kindgom Songs had arrived. I am listening to it right now, and it is truly enchanting!! I read about Sora and her CD in Samantha's zine, and I am so glad that I did. Sora wrote all of the songs herself, plays the guitar and sings them along with some of her children. I love the book that came with it, it has all of the words to the songs, lesson plans, and coloring pages. I wish I had this sort of talent!
I am going to have to get a copy for my nephews too, they love music, and the songs in this are exactly the kind you want to get stuck in their little minds ,your own too for that matter, we moms know we get the songs our kids lsten to running through our minds much of the day. Better than Barney songs any day! :-) Thanks to Sora, and thanks to Samantha for introducing me to it.

Beauty all around us...

IMG_0528, originally uploaded by sangeet.

I just love this time of year! I did not take this photo, but I loved it and had to post it. Cay Cay and I had a long talk cuddled up in bed this morning about God's beauty in creation all around us, and the diversity and patterns of all his creations. I love our morning talks!

Our new thing, that started out as mom just trying to make Cay Cay laugh is to every time we pass during the day to say "Come here, we don't hug enough!" and embrace tightly, and laugh. At first she was like "Mom, yes we do, we hug all the time", but now that we really do hug all of the time, I find myself thinking that we really didn't before. It has been such a sweet thing, I thank God for her and the privelege of being her mom.

I also have introduced her to

Ma and Pa Kettle movies lately. We have such a great time watching these together. Hubby says he doesn't care for them, but whenever we are watching one, he always gravitates to the room somehow and stands for a while, then slowly sits, and then he's laughing right along with us! What fun! My mother-in-law told Cay Cay that she remembers watching them on televison with both of her parent's and her dad (Paw Paw) would laugh and laugh at all of their crazy antics. Paw Paw has gone to be with the Lord now, so knowing this only makes watching them feel all the sweeter now! Check 'em out, there aren't many movies made nowadays that a family can sit and enjoy together, so we have gone back in time over here. I have always preferred the older movies to the modern though.

We have also recently enjoyed
Bringing Up Baby. My daughter has the best laugh in all the world and when she watches these old movies, she gets to going and really rolls on the floor with laughter, ROTFL, came from someone seeing her do this I think! :-)

Fun times!

Dialect Test

Found this one over at Marla's blog.

Your Linguistic Profile:

55% General American English

30% Dixie

10% Upper Midwestern

5% Yankee

0% Midwestern

I am sure not a Midwesterner, although I lived in Wisconsin for 4 years as a teen, (would that be Upper Midwestern or just plain Midwestern?) but I do know all the lingo. In Wisconsin they would call what I call a "water fountain" a "bubbler" though, and that was not even an option on this quiz. I have pretty much been a Texan all of my life, so yes, "Y'all" rolls off of my tongue many times daily, in WI they would say "you guys" I can pick out a Wisconsinite in a snap by the way they say that phrase! I love different accents!

So did my 8th grade History teacher, Mr. Herman. I remember the first day that I was in his class after we moved to Verona, Wisconsin. The ENTIRE class period was spent with him asking me questions and every pair of eyes in class staring at me. it was so horribe to me at the time. He wanted to know all about the Dallas Cowboys, if we really rode horses everywhere, did I normally wear boots and a hat...and telling me to repeat things he said because he wanted to hear me say it with my southern drawl. It was like living out one of those nightmares where you get to school and realize that everyone is looking at you because you forgot to wear your pants!

Night, night y'all!

Smile of an angel!!

Smile of an angel!!, originally uploaded by Adrienne2.

It time to post another picture of nephew #7, little Jeremiah. I love this picture so much, I have copies of it all over the house right now because I can't look at it without laughing and getting such a wonderful warm fuzzy feeling. I love each and every one of my nephews so much, and I LOVE falling in love with them. My heart practically bursts when I think of it! Jeremiah is starting to talk to you now when you sit and play and smile with him, he tells me his own little baby stories, and I can listen to him for an hour without noticing anything else going on around me. It is a great feeling to love and to be loved by him. Then the other's come over and I play with them and hug on 'em, it is just one big love fest when I go over to their house I tell you!

Does anyone else think that Jeremiah looks like Charlie Brown?

My Collage

My Collage, originally uploaded by Adrienne2.

Well, if you guys want to know how weird I am...this is what I do with my time. This is the collage that I made for the cover of my bible study notebook. I wanted to get it scanned in and saved, so I thought I would share it with you all. Do you like Adam and Eve's underpants?

I actually spent a good part of my day scrapbooking. Really, that is a pretty big accomplishment for me. I have now scrapbooked all of the photos that I have taken since January!

I am really, really trying to just get them into an album where my family can enjoy them (digging through the box just isn't as easy), and NOT worry about making each page look like I think it should look. I have spent a couple of years now, sorting through old pictures and scrapbooking, and haven't really accomplished too much; because I am trying to make them look like everyone else's (well not everyone's, but at least the ladies at the crops' that I go to) pages that I see; all the cute stickers and stuff, and I am finally admitting that it's just not me. I don't like the stickers! That is what has held me back I think! I mean my daughter is 12 and so far I have only the first year of her life completed. It is very overwhelming, especially when you don't like what you are doing.

I am not going to do that to myself any longer though, no siree, this is a new me, a fresh start. Anone else have scrapbook woes besides me?

I tried to scan one of my pages in, but for some reason my scanning program wouldn't let me do it because it had more than one picture on it.

One day maybe I will figure out all of this computer stuff too!

Love the Bohemian Housewife and Eclectic Domestic!

I also wanted to tell everyone about my friend Samantha's
zine that she has published. If you don't yet know of it, or have put off ordering one for yourself, get on over there and do it! I love it! I was priveleged enough to see it in it's unfinished state before she "put it to bed" as they say and I told her that it touched my heart. I literally cried while reading the article she wrote called "The Doubting Side" in the issue of "Bohemian Housewife". I just re-read it and it still gets to me. It is so comforting to me to know that other people go through the same things that I do. She says it better than I ever could though, she really puts her heart out there for all to see, and I love that about her!

By the way, my own dear daughter Cay Cay is a featured writer in the Homeschool Gallery. I hope some of you send in your own dear children's work for all of us to enjoy! Cay really loves being a "pusblished writer", so I know your kids would love it too!

Thank you Samantha for all your hard work, I am truly enjoying the fruit of your labor.

My Final Destination

3 I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, 4 always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy, 5 because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now. 6 And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. 7 It is right for me to feel this way about you all, because I hold you in my heart, for you are all partakers with me of grace, both in my imprisonment and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel. 8 For God is my witness, how I yearn for you all with the affection of Christ Jesus. 9 And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, 10 so that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, 11filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.
Philippians 3:3-11 ESV

Sunday evening I went to the new bible study being taught by our pastor; it is called
How People Change.

Most days I am painfully aware of my shortcomings. This first chapter is encouraging me to not focus on my failings, I don't have to figure everything out. I do need to trust the One who does understand and the only one that is able to help me to look at my life with an eternal perspective. It doesn't come naturally. I can rest in the knowlege that the good work that HE has begun in me will be completed in the day of Christ. I don't have the ability to get my own act together. (Boy don't I know it!)

9 After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, 10 and crying out with a loud voice, "Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!" 11 And all the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures, and they fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, 12 saying, "Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might be to our God forever and ever! Amen."

13 Then one of the elders addressed me, saying, "Who are these, clothed in white robes, and from where have they come?" 14 I said to him, "Sir, you know." And he said to me, "These are the ones coming out of the great tribulation. They have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

15"Therefore they are before the throne of God,
and serve him day and night in his temple;
and he who sits on the throne will shelter them with his presence.
16 They shall hunger no more, neither thirst anymore;
the sun shall not strike them,
nor any scorching heat.
17 For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd,
and he will guide them to springs of living water,
and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes."

Revelation 7:9-17ESV

I can see myself in this crowd, I cannot wait until the day that I can stand purified before the throne of the Lamb. This is what I need to keep in mind each and every day, that is my ultimate and final destination.

I have no doubts that I will again get caught up in my own ineptness at life, but I also have no doubt that if I hold my end point constantly before me, that I can get through those times, knowing that I am constantly being transformed into Christ's own image for that day.

You are half baked !!! A mellow medley of emotions and a pleasant personality. You get even the busiest of bees to stop and smell the roses. Rock on !

Someone stop me! It must be because I am going crazy today listening to "There Are No Strings On Me" being played on the piano about a hundred times so far..Cay Cay seems to really love that song, so do I, but after a while I start to feel a tad bit loopy! Luckily her Latin teacher will be here in about an hour to divert her attentions. Ah, I hear a new tune, "Ode to Joy" much better.

UPDATED PERSONALITY TEST RESULTS

I took a personality test today that I found over at Marla Swoffer's blog and found out I am a INFP.

I found it very funny that my very favorite fictional character of all time, Anne Shirley of Anne of Green Gables, is stated in the results as also being an INFP plus Laura Ingalls Wilder, my other favorite, who was not quite fictional. Mary the mother of Jesus is also listed as this, how these people who wrote it can presume to guess this is beyond me though. Pooh bear is also there, I do feel like Pooh at times, not the sharpest tool in the shed, but has a lot of love to give!

OKAY I have taken the test again, 3 times, and I got this answer (Samantha you know me, which one sounds the most like me>)

Your Type is
ISFP

Introverted
Sensing
Feeling
Perceiving

This one sounds a lot more like me than the other one did! So, no more Anne or Pooh for me, now it's Dan Rather, John Travola, Brook Shields...I don't know what to make of that!! :-)

Praise to my Father in Heaven!

Eli has come through the surgery very well! I am so thankful right now. He still must be watched closely for many days, because of his age he has a higher chance of bleeding complications. The doctor told my sis that his tonsils and adnoids were "extremely enlarged for his age" and that it is good they came out now.

Eli has had problems sleeping most of his life because he doesn't breathe well at night, he suffers from sleep apnea, I pray that this will help him considerably. I know my sis could really use more sleep, I don't think she has had a good nights sleep since he was born two years ago, and she also has three month old Jeremiah who nurses frequently at night. I posted about my nephew Eli a week or so ago. I just wanted to let everyone know that he is having his tonsils and adnoids removed tomorrow morning, please lift a prayer up for him! It seems my nephews are all going under the knife here lately, hopefully this will be the last for a very long time, poor little guys.

I will post an update tomorrow.

Saturday morning found me at the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure 5k run. Cay and I WALKED it together. :-) We had a really great time doing this together, even though I dreaded it all week (only because we had to be in downtown Fort Worth at 7 am). My hubby's place of employment, UPS, was one of the many sponsers this year, so dear daughter was thrilled to get two t-shirts out of the deal!

She and I had ample opportunity to talk, and just connect with each other, while doing someting that she wanted to do. I need to do more things that she wants to do, I find myself selfish with my time too often. I want to enjoy her and cherish our time together so much more than I do, I ask God to help me with this. I am probably just horrible at time managemnet, no big surprise to me, but never thought about it affecting Cay and I, and even hubby and I. This computer takes too much of my time every day.

I always feel a bit out of place at such events for the most part though, the crowds are a bit more than I care for. I do love being able to just watch the variety of people involved, I am quite a people watcher. Sometimes I feel I am more of spectator in life I think than an actual participant. I don't know if you understand what I mean or not, but I have always felt that way, especially when in a crowd situation.

I also went to the NAS airforce base later in the afternoon with my sister and her boys to see the Blue Angels perform. I wish I could say I enjoyed that, but I didn't. The others in the party did though, and that is what matters, that is why I went. That was a really strange experience for me. It is in the middle of a huge area that is just parking lot and fields, no trees, I was wearing ear plugs because of the jet engine noise, but I don't think I looked at the jets much. The sight around me was much too strange to me. I looked around and it was dead silent, because of the ear plugs, and people were just stopped everywhere staring up into the sky, looking. If you can picture it, maybe you'll understand what I mean, it was sort of eerie to me. I felt like aliens were going to land at any minute or something! Maybe that is how we'll all look one day when the clouds open up and Jesus is returning to us out of the clouds!

Anyhow, it was a great day for being with family (my favorite thing). Check out the picture of my youngest nephew Jeremiah with the ear plugs during the Blue Angels show. That sight alone was worth going for! :-)
